FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – YORK, S.C. – (Jan. 20, 2019) – Sparrow Ranch on the Island, a non-profit 501(c)(3) Christ centered ministry for those with special needs and their families, is growing its involvement in motorsports through a special grassroots campaign. The program will partner with 55 racers from all levels of motorsport – ranging from the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series to local short tracks – in an effort to bring the ministry of Sparrow Ranch on the Island to grassroots racing and NASCAR communities across America. Sparrow Ranch on the Island has previously been involved in motorsports at several levels, including partnering with race teams in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series. “Our goal is to work with team owners, drivers and track owners that have the same values as Sparrow Ranch. We want to invest our time and resources into those teams to inspire and encourage the world around us to live a life more pleasing to Christ,” said Sparrow Ranch on the Island founder Ricky Teal. “As the founder of Sparrow Ranch, racing has always been a rich family tradition in my life. As the doors of racing have opened over the past few years as an avenue into a mission field, God has given us a vision, the people, resources and the passion to lead by example to be a beacon of light to bring hope and share the love of Jesus Christ to all those we meet. “After much prayer, myself and Racing Outreach Director Annie Fritz are excited to announce our racing plans for 2019. Our theme for this season will be ‘Finding Your True North.’ We have made it our goal to start at the very beginning stages of racing with our youngest racers in go karts and up through grassroots racing. From dirt track warriors to asphalt legends to NASCAR heroes, we challenge them all to search down deep and answer one question: Have I found my True North?” Each of the 55 competitors selected for the Sparrow Ranch on the Island grassroots program – who range in age from 5 to 71 years old – will carry the Sparrow Ranch On the Island/Grassroots Racing logo throughout the 2019 racing season. “We also are thrilled to include Tonya McCallister at MPM Marketing, whose clients will also be a part of our grassroots program, as well as Lee Faulk Racing and Development. We feel like we can make a huge impact around the country by partnering with these people to bring much needed hope, love and compassion through our many platforms in which God has entrusted us with,” Teal said. “TV, theatrical movie releases, music production, live events, social media programming and most importantly, our boots on the ground attending races to meet the amazing drivers, owners and to hear and film incredible stories of heroic faith, uplifting testimonies and to pray with the broken. “Last but not least, we want to meet all the race fans, learn their stories, encourage, inspire and pray with them that they too will find their True North.” Interested parties who would like to support the Sparrow Ranch on the Island grassroots racing program can contact Ricky Teal at ricky@sparrowranch.org.
